Hello,

I'm looking to get my garage loft boarded, I've had 3 companies come and quote. 2 of the 3 are proposing a 'floating floor' approach and one is saying it would use a timber frame to raise it.

My house is built in 2012 so quite new, the area is around 13m2. Quotes are around £1.3k with a ladder and light.

However I'm confused if I should go after the floating floor approach. I'd get slightly less space, as it would be raised higher than with the timber. The floating floor may also increase the angle of the ladder, as it would be higher.

In research the weight of the timber could be an issue, along with issues with air movement underneath? Generally the views appear to be that floating is better?

Companies quoted have been Instaloft, Access4Lofts, The Loft Access Company.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Thanks!
