I have now emptied my loft space and want to board it all. I have noticed I have between 80 - 130mm of insulation up there. You won't get any more thickness due to the height of the joists. I am aware that you need about 270mm nowadays, but due to the joists this will not happen with the chipboard i want to lay. Is there another product I can use? Someone mentioned using something like Celotex??

Any Help would be great!

You either have to fork out for Celotex or Kingspan and fit between the joists or

add counter battens to your existing joists and insert your additional layer of mineral wool insul between the counter battens and board on top.

Assuming you're talking about the mineral wool insulation then yes, if rigid you ought to have a little clearance.
