Hi I am about to cover the loft floor with new chipboards and I noticed that there is some kind of Polystyrene granulates between beams acting as insulation rather than the usual yellow “rolled” insulation.
My question is, is it worth replacing the granulates by new modern loft insulation? Or would it not make much difference once I cover the loft floor with chipboards?
Thanks

The granules will insulate reasonably well.

Sounds as if you don't have much insulation, boarding doesn't make much difference so would be worth putting more in.

Instead of replacing the beads, if you have the funds (which I guess you do if you are talking about replacing them) consider insulating the roof instead, as this will act as an additional insulation layer and help further.
