the overflow from my roof is pumping out water i have to turn on the hot taps to stop it but only last a short while please help i am at my wits end and am frightened it floods my house, thanks.

its most likely the cold water storage tank and either the float has sunk due to it filling with water or the valve on ther float are has stuck. you wiil either have to replace the ball ( as an interim measure get a peice of wood or similar which fits across the tank and tie the arm up so that it turns off the water supply) or move the arm up and down to try to release the valve. you will need to get into the loft to do this.
for 'float are' read 'float arm
