I have put down 150mm insulation between the joists in my loft and have started to put insulation boards and chip board on top for storage. the problem is i have just realized there are electrical wires for lights and sockets going along some of the joists. How should I deal with them? would it be ok to just put the insulation boards over top?

thanks

hi,
screw down 50mmx50mm, or 50mm 25mm across lengths of joists bridging over junction boxes. then lay your flooring on top.

hmm, thats the problem! i have already started laying the flooring! would it be ok to just cut grooves in the joists to run the cables so they dont get crushed?

Not a good idea to start checking out your loft rafters.
have you screwed the new flooring down? this is always advisable to minimise vibration on your ceilings as opposed to hammering.

either way it aint a quick fix because you have started laying your floor.
its up to you how you proceed now blunda.
good luck :)
