I'm looking for a small/medium automatic (petrol) that doesn't have one of those footrest things on the left by the brake pedal. I have arthritis in my left knee and like to vary its position on a long drive, occasionally doing a full stretch. I have a Chevrolet Aveo auto which has a good gap on the left by the brake and am looking for something similar, used or new.
Are these rests removable in some cars? I can imagine that not everyone wants/likes them.

Don't know what model/year/price range you are looking for, but our Mk 3 Ford Mondeo (2L petrol) auto didn't have a foot-rest.
Can't help with removal advice as I've never wanted to delete the facility.

I eventually got a Nissan Micra which has a good gap to the left of the brake (and no sign of a footrest). I like the CVT transmission too.

My car had a foot rest by the clutch pedal, and having long legs, it was uncomfortable for me, so I just removed it as it was only held in by a couple of screws. It is unlikely that they will mould the body to provide a foot rest, so check it out.
