2 shingles fell off the roof in the last storm. One hit part of the guttering which is functional but half broken.
We're in a tall 3-floor town house so access is a concern.

Had 3 people come out to look at it, first guy said he'd do it on ladder, it's a small job but charge for the high altitude work, £750 all in
2nd person, major scaffolding, not comfortable having guys up there, looking at £800-1000 just for scaffolding so liekly £1500 or so all in.
3rd person says it's borderline, scaffolding tower most likeliy, looking at about £1000-£1200 all in.

None seem to suggest it's urgent but in another storm more shingles could fall (dangerous I suppose).
Then again they're not redoing the whole roof.

Feels really dumb for me to spend £1,000 to fix 2-3 shingles, but if it could cause a leak or if it's dangerous of course I'd be happy to do it.

Any suggestions? Worth getting more quotes?

The other access options are "cherry picker" (vehicle platform) and rope-access. Cherry pickers are good for small jobs where there is access for the vehicle. Rope access can be useful if there's a roof hatch for access, or similar.

Trades tend to quote based on what they have, i.e. if the company owns a cherry picker that's sat idle most of the time, they'll quote using that; if they would have to hire one but own a scaf tower, they'll quote based on that.

Thanks.
Are these likely to come in below the £750 quote anyways? I guess if £500 or so it would be worth getting more quotes. And how important is it to actually get fixed? would a few broken shingles cause leaks?

It's storm damage. Aren't you insured?

BTW, you have a duty to ensure that anyone you employ works in a safe manner. If they have an accident, then you could be liable

OP,
Why not stand back at both front & rear elevations and take pics - your pics might suggest an access route?
It would be best to show where the missing "shingles" are missing from?
Zoopla or other realtors might have taken a drone view of your roof?
