At this point i have not connected the cooker and inadvertantly swithched the cooker switch, resulting in a loud bang and the house in darkness.
but then he said:
i know the cause which was the cooker wire ends shorting out
So I'm at a loss... :?:

I took it that he'd fixed a cable to the CCU, but the other other was flying rather than being connected to the cooker, and that's where the short was.

yeah, i had fixed 6mm cable to the cooker switch and left the other end bare which then shorted out, i know now of my mistakes was lucky i didnt hurt anyone and jeez i have learnt a lesson!!
