I have no hot water. I noticed that the water heater fuse is off. Everything is working fine - CH, washing machine. We were using the oven a lot tonight. Could it be that the system was overloaded and the water heater got turned off in the main fuse box? Is it safe to turn the water heater fuse on? Thanks.

It'll probably just trip again if there's a fault on the immersion. Best test the immersion heater and thermostat.

It wouldn't have been that there were other things switched on at the same time, unless the oven is on the same circuit as the water heater, which is unlikely.

Is is a fuse thats blown or a circuit breaker thats tripped? Keep an eye on it to see if it happens again. It maybe that the element in your water heater is starting to fail, in which case this may start occurring quite regularly

Thanks for you replies. We turned the fuse on and so far the hot water is working. I will also look at the thermostat and if the water heater element needs replacement. Same thing happened during last summer as well.

Do you know how much the replacement cost will be for the water heater element? and is there a known brand that is reliable and efficient? Thanks.
