Lost menu bar

Our internet explorer icon disappeared and in trying(successfully) to get it back, again our usual menu bar including the back and forward arrows favourites etc was replaced was replaced by another which we dont like. How can we get back our old one?

we also have a forum called "Software"

Have you tried right-click in the bar area and "customise command bar" (or it may be called Tool bar)

It may have installed IE7 which looks different (you will spot this if you click on "file" and it offers you the option "open in new tab" (this may be greyed out, but was not in IE6).
