Low flow / blockage? - Britony Combi SE 100

I've recently moved into a new flat with the above mentioned combi boiler.

The boiler seems to be feeding hot and cold water to the shower, taps and rads.

It fires for a while, gets up to temp too quickly imo, and shuts off. The flow and return temps are wildly different, the flow gets super hot, whilst the return is pretty cold.

I'm thinking that there may be a blockage in a filter somewhere.

Before i drain the system and inspect the filter, does this sound like the right place to start? Any other things i should look at first?

if its not in the return (where it should be) look in the flow
