LP722 replacement with wiser 2 channel

Hi, Am I right in thinking that I can straight swap a wiser 2 channel controller for the current LP722? Well leaving the current thermostat connected have any effect? The wiring diagram seems to be the same and other documents say the backplate is 'industry standard'

Yes should be straight swap, leaving existing thermostat would need to be set to maximum for the Wiser to take over.

Can confirm all has gone well with the replacement. Made the change live and heating is now controlled via Alexa with schedules tested and setup.
