I planning on upgrading a 3-channel Drayton MiGenie (Wish 3) to a Drayton Wiser Kit 3. The current system controls S-Plan heating and hot water, but the third channel is dedicated to a Secondary Hot Water Return (SHWR) pump for a distant en suite.
The MiGenie backplate uses Terminal 3 for this secondary circulation. I am planning a straight swap to the Wiser HubR, using the second heating channel (Terminal 3) to switch the pump, triggered by a Wiser Room Thermostat set to a high setpoint during the timed 'pump' periods.
Does anyone know of any reason why this workaround wouldn't work? It's a bit of a fudge, but saves me the hassle of getting round an electrician to swap to another system, whereas the above should be a straight swap out since they use the same backplate.
