I often see posts re how "stuck" TRV pins can be unstuck by removing the actuator and pushing the pin in with something like the handle of a reversed hammer, some say they can stick after remaining in one position for a prolonged period like the summer. I've used TRVs (the simple real ones) for years and have never had a single stuck pin, mine last ~ 6 to 8 years and fail either by the rubber seat failing , in which case the TRV will pass at full/partial flow even if shut, or the internal spring fails, in which case they generally fail passing either partially/fully. I never exercise them between seasons but certainly not a bad practice to fully shut/open a few times and then return to original settings. WD40 is a good all rounder so probably used mostly.
