m10 or m12

I have just purchased a Lapis mono tap and it has come with 2 tap tails, I want to buy some different tails that are push fit but I have two options, M10 or M12 connectors on the tap end.

How do i work out which I need, does the 10 and 12 stand for mm ?
as the connector does look about 10mm.

I kave no knowledge of the hardware you are mentioning.

However, in the generality M10 and M12 are standard metric screw thread sizes. They are roughly that diameter across the outside of the threads.
