Main cable tails to supply

Using 25mm tails what is the cable length limit from the supply to the consumer unit please? I need to move a consumer unit appx. 4metres from the meter.

The tails will run under the floor and then inside an internal stud wall

Ask your DNO, most will say something around 3m

Though at 4m, I'm not sure its a big problem I'm not sure they'd get a measuring tape out and measure the exact length!

How are the tails run? surface trunking?

Are you aware of the technical and legal consideratios when moving a CU?

I've heard different DNO's have a different limits.

You'll have to Contact your DNO to find out.

Beleive it's usually around 3 meters

Surely it is not good practice to be installing tails in this manner with nothing more than the suppliers fuse for protection?

My DNO (WPD) say any length, it is our part of the install, and as long as it complies to BS7671.......

I prefer tails to be short and seen.
