Hi

My boiler has packed in. It started not firing occasionally. But now it wont fire anytime. Iv changed both electrodes and leads. Not worked

Iv read it could be possibly air pressure switch, the reset selector, or possibly the pcb. Any ideas

Thanks in advance

I would like to add that i am gas safe registered but im more of an installation guy, just incase i was breaking rules

Is the fan running?

If so you can check the air pressure switch by measuring any resistance
change across the contacts before the fan starts and when the fan is
running.

Sounds like it is pressure switch though.

Yes the fan is running, do you mean electricly using a multimeter? Iv blown into the hose and the diaphram is clicking in and out.

Also when trying to fire iv been told to check if theres any gas on the outlet side of the valve. Which there isnt.

if you look at the top entrys on plumbing/central heating you will see it mentions the combustion chamber where gas fitters can talk/ask or give advice away from the public. you register your gas safe details to apply for entry

Yes measure the resistance with the multimeter.

If the fan in running and no spark then it locks out it is nearly always

the air pressure switch.

I wonder if dcawkwell could be held responsible for suggesting APS (almost always) being defective (as per his understanding), hence the OP goes out and buys the switch

i actualy do wonder what he could be liable for as 1 gas advice
if guy is not registered and the boiler started and he left leak on case seals could he be liable for that

Changed the pressure switch, still not working. Any i deas what to try next?

Yeah, ignore the advice by wannabe 'Boiler repair men / women' who use Google as a reference. Try fault finding and tell 'your customer' you made an error.

How on earth do you operate, not being able to use a multimeter? Wing and a prayer I guess.

I don't believe this is your boiler for one minute. Let your customer call someone that 'can'.

A lot of the advice being given above is inappropriate for an open forum where DIYers might be temped to try it.

The only good thing is that the OP followed some advice and of course it did not solve the problem.

We have still not seen the OP in the cc where we can give comprehensive advice.
