Main stop cock wont turn- please help

Hi All,
Sadly not tried my main stop cock for a while and now need to turn off but it will not turn.

Any tips please to sort this out- will wd40 help ?

Try long handled pump pliers to improve leverage

Tried the pump pliers but dont seem to turn and dont want to snap anything- can wd40 help ?

wd 40 wont make any difference do you not have water meter outside with valve in there usually a lot easier to use

Try WD40. Spray it in the shaft several times at 2 hours interval.
Then next day try with pump pliers.
You're trying to close it by turning it clockwise when you look at it from the top?

Be very careful not to apply too much force or you may have a bigger problem. Our stopcock is absolutely solid. I've been using the meter in the road for years

Have you undone the gland nut and then tried to turn it off?

Worried that if I turn the gland nut it will start leaking ? Then what ?

Undo the gland nut, it might start leaking but then try and turn the handle either way to try and loosen the spindle.
