Hi
We moved into a Victorian house a couple of years ago with some really nice fireplaces that are screwed into the wall and blocked up inside. At the level of the screws near the top of the left and right hand sides of the fireplace, the gap between the fireplace and the wall is about is 5mm. This gap gets smaller towards the bottom of the fireplace where it then fits flush and has been cut into the skirting board. The mantlepiece also fits flush into the wall.
We're trying to avoid taking the fireplaces out and knocking part of the walls out.
Is there a sealant on the market that we could use to fill that 5 mm gap so as to avoid taking the fireplaces down?
