i'm working on a loft conversion project, to bring it in line with building/fire regs etc. I have plans from an architect and an engineer is writing a report.
we decided to move the staircase, to make the loft room more usable, and to comply with all regulations.
i have the dimensions for the new staircase, which will run up the side of a stud wall turn through part of the wall then up through the ceiling to loft.
Obviously the new opening in the ceiling and position of stair case is critical, my question is there a professional trick for measuring the new opening and positioning the staircase, or would it be a case of simply using good old tape measure.
I would appreciate any comments!!
