Looking to buy a mitre saw to use as I gradually fix up my ancient house.

Can't decide between the two producst liste in the title. I'm looking for a saw with decent accuracy and to cover as many jobs as possible. So:

1. Does anyone have strong feeling about either of these producst (bad/good).

2. Do people think the 220mm max cutting width of the sliding RAGE3-S (vs 130mm for the Makita) trumps the greater cutting depth and relative simplicity of the makita?

I'm not doing any unusual work just typical joinery around the house and (quite a lot of) replacement of wood cladding.

Cheers,

Makita is the better brand, but just for a one off job I'd go for the extra cutting capability, plus the benefit of cutting through metal if neccesary.

The Makita will likely be a tad more accurate but at the end of the day you should always do test cuts and adjust if necessary.

Cheers for that.

I don't suppose anyone has experience of using the sealey sms10? Local hardware shop has one ex demo for £150 reduced from £200. It has a 255mm blade and sliding action but I don't know how accurate I can expect it tpo be compared to the makita of evolution products (which get solid reviews).

Cheers,
