I'm new to my house. It has an oil fired boiler in the basement that feeds hot water into the radiator system. One radiator wasn't functioning. I found a bleed key, opened it, released air.....thought all was well. Upon my return to the radiator, I had left it open. Water was on the floor and there was a funny chemical smell. Now it doesn't work at all. What have I done? What can I do? Thanks. JR.

Or did you mean to say the heating system has stopped working now? If so (and there are some assumptions because you are over the water) check the system pressure and top-up as neccessary.
