Hi folks

Please help. I might be paying too much.

I am attaching pictures of a manhole/drain which needs moving about one metre as it is in the way of foundations. Nothing to be added just a like for like drain to be moved one meter.

I have been quoted 750 pounds including all materials.

Is that reasonable?

The pictures are not my drain but it looks exactly the same.

X2. Not an easy job to remove it, then alter the pipework to enter a new one.

If it's not a shared drain then it's quite straightforward. If it is shared you will have to pay £££ to the water co and build the new manholeto a much stricter spec.

The drain is shared by me and my neighbour.

Why would the costs shoot so high?

Just got another quote from a dranage chap for 550 pounds.

the quote could be v. low or ridiculously low dependin on the site.

if your serious why not post some photos of your own m/h - an the general area showin your yard an your neighbours.

where does the m/h drain to next?

Got it moved for £550.00 inc all materials.
Building Regs have no problems with it.
Paid 299.00 to Thames Water online.
End off.
