What do you decorating pros recommend for painting white on door linings, architrave and skirting (latter two will be MDF)? Gloss white paint or Matt?

which is more durable?

Personally I’d go eggshell, has a good finish, without the shine of gloss.

I always thought eggshell was used in kitchen ceilings and walls because of grease etc?

It depends who lives there.
If it's your own house, use whatever you prefer.
Personally i like gloss, but that's just me.
If it's a rental property, definitely gloss.
Satinwood and matt don't last long in rental places.
Also, in my experience, if you use dulux or layland acrylic gloss, you can clean it with soapy water or even a degreaser.
