Wetroom ripped out due to leak and shower tray going in instead. Repair job rather than full bathroom refit.
Plan is 18mm WBP plywood on joists, followed by a mortar mix and then shower tray. I need to make the thickness up for the shower tray to sit on the surrounding floor tiles. The shower tray I'm looking at is larger than the space in the floor.
Lower section of previous wetroom waste is still in situ and is to be replaced with new. The top of this is aligned close to joist height. ~50mm from this vertically to top of surrounding floor tiles.
Is 18mm ply and ~32mm mortar acceptable and is this depth OK for connecting new shower waste? Tricky to find max. depths between the two screw-in sections for shower wastes online.
Other alternative is smaller shower tray, however this will leave a small gap between surrounding floor tiles and shower tray.
