Hiya,

I've just moved into a new flat and within a couple of days the lights went out, just the bedrooms, hall and living room. All sockets, cooker etc. are still on. I checked the MCBs in the fuse box but none had tripped.

Is it possible that the MCB just needs replacing or do I need to get an electrician out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes

Richard

You probably have a loose connection somewhere. Turn off the electricity at the consumer unit and check behind light switches/ceiling roses for any lose connections.

If all the lights are on 1 circuit then maybe you have a loose connection at a ceiling rose. You could turn off the power and have a look by pulling on wires.
There will be 3 rows of terminals and the ones at fault will be 3 browns( or reds), or the terminal with 2 blues(or blacks). Thats not including the pendant wires by the way
