I'm creating some shelves in an alcove and was thinking about using MDF, however, will MDF be likely to sag overtime?

Span will be about 120cm, I was intending to use a baton across the rear and a wedge shaped baton at the sides.

Does anyone forsee any problems? Would mainly be storing my partners teaching files.

Use 24 or 32mm mdf and it should not bow and will require no baton.
decorate to match wall?

beware of mdf shelves,i did some a few years back, put loads of supports in and it still sagged.use ply and nose the front edge.
