Quick question from wet-behind-ears-DIY-er ...

I need to put up a basic shelf, 150cm x 60cm. My cheapest option is MDF. It won't be bearing much load (just some clothes, maybe a book or two; it's for a shop).

Would you think the MDF would sag, given a thickness of 3cm?

Any help much appreciated.

a bit more stylish dependent on shop of course scaffold board old about £5 new about £15 for 13ft for 2x shelves plus a bit the boards are 9" wide

you can also get 10ft/3m boards but the offcut from a 13ft gives you 2 sides to your shelves

Or use ply.
perhaps with an edging strip.

would steer clear of mdf, but thats just personal opinion.
and of course the sag issues compared to comparable thickness ply for instance.
