I'm considering building out a media wall unit on my chimney breast. I don't want to encroach too much into the room so thinking 140/150mm max depth. I want to install an electric recessed fireplace unit, but I cannot seem to find any that are less than a 140mm depth back unit. Is there a minimum gap you need behind the metal recessed unit or can this sit flush against the existing brick chimney breast? The websites I am looking at for the fireplaces don't seem to provide any recommended installation information.
