Hi,

I currently have 13 amp switched fused spur on the side of a my chimney breast at low level feeding a socket behind an electric fireplace. The switched fused spur is on its own circuit from the consumer unit.

I want to install a switched downlights within the chimney recess. What is the best way to do this, can a lighting spur be taken off either the socket or the switched fused outlet? I assume there would need to be a 3 amp switched fuse connection between the light and the 13amp circuit which could also function as a light switch if installed somewhere accessible?

Thanks

The 13amp FCU is required to isolate the electric fire as the socket will be behind it similar to a fridge so so not readily accessible. Can the Fireplace lights be wired directly into the same 13amp FCU feeding the socket with a one way switch to control the lights?
