Hi Guy's

Please could you give me some advice about my water heater, is it worth having repaired or just buy a new one? The heater is a" Medway Super 52 476 39 " The problem is:- The burner is not firing up until a strong flow is coming from the tap and then it only gets warm for about 10 seconds even with the heat setting up to maximum. After reading previous posts, could this be in need of a new diaphragm and/or push rod? Hope you can give me some guidance on this.

Sounds almost certainly to be the diaphragm, either split or stretched. These can be replaced from underneath, but are fiddly and you need to be careful when reassembling and use new O rings.

Repair it - all bits are still available. As egm has said though, it can be fiddly (I go for a full service kit) and they often leak but patience is a virtue.

Many thanks, you are correct, the diaphragm has got a split in it. I will try and track a new one down tomorrow.
