I have a 7 year old Megaflo system and the control valve has started to drip. It's very slow, perhaps one drip in a week and quickly evaporates. Is this a sign of worse to come, or can I forget about it? Not sure I want the expense of an appropriately qualified plumber

Also, there appears to be a nut on the part of the value that's dripping, I was wondering whether to try tightening it!

You should change it. The person who does the work needs to hold a valid G3 certificate.

You might not want the expense, but that is the joys of homeownership.

Dan, thanks for replying but it seems you're incorrect.

I found an old thread on this forum which explained how to clean the strainer inside the combination valve. This is a end-user capable maintenance task. Sure enough, the strainer was full of limescale and so far no drips! Glad I didn't make a call-out...

As stated you should not be touching these type of systems without the correct qualifications.

I await your next post shortly.

Not wanting to disappoint, here is your reply: the manual for my Megaflo specifically lists 4 customer maintenance tasks which the end user can carry out themselves including rebuilding the air lock, and this valve cleaning. I'm sure however that tradesmen would much rather they were called out for everything/anything possible.

I can't say I know enough about how the pressure control valve works to answer your question, but 3 users in the other thread confirmed that this solved a dripping issue, and I am the 4th on this forum to confirm it. Surely you can't say it's not worth a try considering a new valve costs £120 before labour?
