Hi All

So I'm thinking about installing a Megaflo cylinder - I will be getting some plumbers around to quote but have been researching the requirements.
Just needs some advice before I waste plumbers times getting around for quotes.

I will need a 210l megaflow cylinder - 4 bed hse with 1 bathroom, 1 en suite and one downstairs loo.

My water comes in the house in a blue pipe then reduces at the stopcock to 15mm.
I have a water softener and this is plumbed in with 22mm full bore valves.
I have tested my flow rate at the garden tap and i'm getting 20L per minute out of it.

My boiler is a heat only Vaillant 418 heat only boiler.

Is my flow and set up suitable or am I right on the fringes of the megaflow not working well if I go for one?

Thanks in advance

Get the plumbers round to check it all, it's there job I'm sure they won't mind, where abouts in the country are you from?

I would think that the supply could be upgraded at a later date should it prove to be problematic

Is your outside tap on the output from the water softener? If not then I'd suggest you see what flow rate you are getting out of the softener, as some of them are a bit restrictive, with or without 22mm full bore valves.

You also need to look at the pressure, both static (no flow) and dynamic (with a cold tap open).

From what you've said I suspect its borderline for a straight installation, but worthwhile getting someone to do the necessary tests.

Its generally considered that a dynamic flow rate of 22 litres/minute @ 1.0 bar is the minimum for proper operation of an unvented.

What calculation has led you to choose a 210 litre cylinder?
