Megger meter fault

Hi, I have been using an old megger meter for a few years but when I tried to use it yesterday after a year of non use the scale doesnt show any readings.
I have connected a multi meter to the -ve and +ve terminals and get volts out close to the value of the megger dial position so any thoughts on where the problem could be?
