Mercedes C220 (W203) Alternator Pulley

I have a 2002 C220 Diesel with the aux. belt making fluctuating noise on tick over. It squeels when I add the Air Con or turn the steering but again only on tick over. I've been told it is the Alternator (Free Wheel) pulley.
They are available at £80 from the main dealer.
Can anyone tell me please if it can be changed insitu and do you need a special tool to remove it?

could well be what is causing the noise. 80 quid not too bad. most motor factors should be able to get the pulley a bit cheaper. firstline brand make them. you do need special tools to remove the pulley. any decent garage should be able to swap the pulley over if you take the alternator into them.
can be done in situ with the right tool but is a bit of a bar steward.
