Changed an earthing conductor today. The tails were 'clipped' with the old style 'belt buckle' type folding clips. I had a strange urge to earth them. But would have it been incorrect to do so?

Were you afraid they would short to the earthing conductor and become earthed?

They would have been under the 15th... 
Would that depend on whether the tails were classed as DI, or insulated and sheathed?
