Metal plug socket help?

earth or CPC if perefered, run to the back box.

I hope you mean you have earth wires going to the socket earth terminal, and a link from there to the metal box. In other words, you don't just earth the metal box.

I'm sure you have done it right, but your quote didn't read too well.
 
As you said, earth to socket terminal and then onto back box. Both parts are earthed.

So to be clear, You have connected both CPCs(earth cables) from the circuit to earth terminal on socket face plate, then connected another earth link between the back box and socket?

and yes 131.8 is referring to the electrical requirements(regs) and reads so;
No additional or alteration, temporary or permanent, shall be made to an existing installation, unless it has been ascertained that the rating and condition of any existing equipment, including that of the distributer, will be adequate for the altered circumstances. Furthermore, the earthing and bonding arrangements, if necessary for the protective measure applied for safety of the addition or alteration, shall be adequate.
