MI Fittings ?

Male iron have external BSP thread, i.e. as a spigot, whereas Female iron have the thread internally, i.e. as a socket.

OK, thanks Hugh. I didn't even know that MI stood for Male Iron !!! A rapidly learning DIYer !!

Try malleable iron that is what it means.
Can be male or female or mixture of both

I always though MI means male iron
If not, I wonder what FI connector means.
Could both be true?

Learn something every day, I was always told Male/Female iron, esp as most of the fitting we were using in domestic works were brass!

I note Screwfix list the brassware type as male/female couplers (size) mm x (size) ".

i dont want to appear to be on the fence, but it means both to me, i have always used MI in the right context and knew what it meant, MI (Malleable Iron)pipe/fittings, and "an MI fitting" (Male Iron) boiler coupling with BSP thread.

the thought had occurred to me.
I trust you know why people tend to sit on the fence

I didn't say you were sitting on the fence, but since you are asking....

People sit on the fence because the love the sensation.
