MIDAS BF COMBI BOILER CH FAULT

midas bf combi boiler. hw ok but ch not working.when switched on, pressure gauge goes up,thumping noise occurs,gas release valve pops out and system shuts down......is it stuck pumps \ pressure valve problem????please help experts..all rads bled pressure at 1 bar

sounds preety much like the ch pump is sticking.

there are 2 pumps in the boiler.do you know what does what function.

the other does dhw

which is which? hw left ?ch right.....will a knock to it free it or is it a replacement job?

Look in FAQ to see how to spin the rotor.

See which one works when you turn on a hot tap.

With the age of these boilers I would think of replacing it fairly soon

cheers dave.as a gas 4 u man what do you think would be a reasonable charge for a repair ...if it is a pump? {foreigner}also does g f u provide a service like british gas for annual breakdown cover. b.g. quoted 156£ for callout repair 1 off. :

The BG price is about right, especially as these are very old boilers that many won't work on

is a pump easy to get hold of?

I am one of those who don't take on work on these boilers, so I don't know if it is a standard pump or a special, but either way shouldn't be too much of a problem getting one.

Standard pump either a myson or grunfoss will do it, don`t think wilo fit in. Also one of the pumps (cant remember which) has a non return valve fitted in the pump adaptor make sure it stays in place if its on the pump your changing
