Hi, can someone explain please. The wife and myself live in a bungalow bit run down and cold when we bought it 20 years ago. Had double glaze doors and windows put in over the years, updated the central heating and insulation. Could not get walls insulated as we have solid walls. The 2 bedrooms are at the front, and I fitted as I have always been told the radiators under the windows. So why when we get to winter do we get Mildew & condensation on the walls with the radiators, even on the piece of wall under the radiators. It's beginning to drive us mad, HELP PLEASE. Reg

If you can hold your breath all night the problem will go away!

We exhale out a lot of water overnight about a litre or so, leaving a window open during the night helps and opening it up a bit more for a while after getting up will help too.

Despite the heating the outside wall is colder so moisture will form.

We had persistent damp in my daughters room spent loads on trying to track it down, when she moved out it disappeared!

We also used to get bad condensation on the lounge (double glazed) windows because we spent the evening in there then left the curtains closed and shut the door.

We now draw the curtains and leave the door open as a result the condensation is just about an inch at the bottom of the glass.

You could give Wallrock Thermal Liner a try it makes the wall a bit warmer and putting radiator foil behind the rad is worthwhile too.
