hi

Have a mira elite 2 shower, feed from tank in attic. got very hard water. the inlet filter inside in the shower blocks with limescale very frequently. this leads to the shower not working properly -low flow, water cannot mix. so have to clean filter e.g isolate electric supply and water. alot of trouble.

Could i pierce the inlet filter so that this blockage stops?.
its only the film of limescale thats blocking it, not dirt.

Has anybody tried this approach?

The inlet filters are there to protect your shower valve from such things as limescale. If you pierce them you'll be in danger of the limescale doing damage to the valve itself. You could always install one of these in the pipework if limescale is your problem.

Hi thanks for the reply,

Im not sure if these devices work. some plumbers seem to discount them.do you use one? we live in a very hard water area!

what about an electrolitc 'softener' the wire wrap type that plug into the mains and requires no pipes to be cut?
