mira sport shower -- temperature control problem

When I start the shower the water is too hot. Turn lower control down and temp does not change until turned well down. Now too cold. Turn up gradually and suddenly too hot.
Is there a fault in the Flow Valve Assembly? I don't this part is too pricey on the internet.
I could buy it and give it a try.
