I have mitred beading before for laminate flooring. This time however because I had left too big a gap at the edges I got a larger than normal quadrant beading. I have used my mitre box at 90 degrees for both internal and external corners but when I but the 2 corners together they are not fitting and there is a gap separating the 2 pieces. Can you advise me how to get round this?

you will have to scribe the internal not mitre, fit 1 piece fairly tight to the corner with a straight cut, mitre the other piece(over size long)if you look carefully you should see a shadow line, you need to cut this out with a coping saw.ie carefully follow the shadow line,it should now fit tightly.

Thanks for that, what about the angle going round corners around the fire place

Thanks Benites

A mitre box isn't a precision tool or the fireplace may not be square in the first place.
If you've no spare beading and the gap is small enough the dreaded filler is the best bet.
If you've spare material use what you've already cut and got in place to mark up an angle slightly off 45 degrees (a sliding bevel helps) to mate with a piece you've already cut.
Also - stop worrying - you're the only one who'll notice it - honest :) :!: (or alternatively everyone else will be too polite to mention it)
