Mixer shower won't mix

Hello,

I've just bought a flat and the mixer shower attachment which comes out of the bath taps, will either give cold or boiling hot water, but not both. If I turn the hot tap on first, the water will stay hot even if I turn the cold on full.

The same is for the cold tap - if I turn the cold tap on first, it will stay cold even if I put the hot tap on full.

The flat has a combi boiler.

Any advice eg will replacing the mixer work; what model etc will be appreciated.

I'm totally new to the world of plumbing, so don't worry about stating what you might think is obvious!

Give the Shower Dr a ring and they will advise you if your mixer is serviceable. They are helpful and do mail order.
