Mixer tap is bugging me

Hi Guys,

I have a mixer tap on the basin in my upstairs bathroom, for some reason every so often it will spurt a bit of water out even though the tap is turned off, please could anybody shed anylight on as to why it is doing it..

How often does it spurt, and how much water each time?

Is it capable of spurting many times between each real usage?

The tap doesn't have to have been used, you can just be in the bathroom and all of a sudden it spurt out a bit of water, not anything major its just annoying thats all.
