Mixer tap spacing

Over my bath I have wall-mounted mixer taps with shower-hose attachment.

Nothing unusual in that but the taps are 160mm apart rather than the normal nowadays of 150mm.

The elbows are tiled and cemented in so I'd rather not have to change those.




I can't find any so does anyone know if there are any mixer taps available with 160mm. spacing?

There are some that do adjustable centers. Like this one, but that only goes to 155mm. Have a search of adjustable center shower mixer - that's how I just found that one, but I knew they existed.

Most wall mixer taps are, as you suggest, 150mm centres here in the UK. Deck mixers can be different @ 180mm centres and other mixers to utilise the bath holes then need to use upstands to obtain the measurements. Not sure with Portugal though, as with most European country sizes, they all seem to have their own standards.

You can get some that are adjustable, depend on what's needed, thermo or manual etc - Manual Shower

What type of fittings are in the wall, are they male or female?

It has the usual elbow adjusters

Yeah,I think you might be right. There are some out there with adjustable elbow types, but can’t seem to find the bath and shower mixer together.

Ah ok - so a bath filler as well as a shower diverter?

Unfortunately I think you'll be hard pressed. Most, if not all, bath fillers with shower diverter are 150mm here in the UK as they are solid bodied, so the inlets wouldn't move, any adjustment would be through the Z connectors. The only option may be to see if there are 10mm offset 3/4" female to male couplers to get the 3/4" centres to 150mm but I'm not sure they even exist.

It may come down to opening up the tile but that could probably be done quite neatly with a Dremel and diamond cutting disk. Any hole made could then be covered by the shrouds or bespoke steel/plastic panels made to over fit.

That's what I am trying to avoid but looks like it might have to be done.

What type of mixer was there before? 150mm centres on wall mounted bath fillers with a shower diverter has been common for a long time, possibly a European make, given you're in Portugal? No marking, name or anything on it I guess?

It actually failed a few years ago and I 'temporarily' fitted single hot and cold taps until I could find a 160mm.
I didn't notice a brand name. The building is 'only' forty years old.
Strangely enough, the kitchen has similar mixer tap which is 150mm.

The local sheds are all big European companies but none has any 160mm.

Now I've had a couple of other jobs done I thought I would get the taps done.
A half-hour-two-nut job would have been better than building work which I can no longer do myself.
