I'm going to pressure wash my brick paved drive to clean the weeds out.

I've had the idea that when its dried off that I could mix some powder type weedkiller in with sand and brush the mix it to the brick gaps.

Does this seem sensible?

no

but you can use Pathclear after brushing in the new sand, it will kill seedlings and also leave a film which (if undisturbed) will prevent seeds germinating for some months. However it does not "poison the soil" and rainwater run-off onto your garden will not kill your plants.

A pressure washer will have the effect of washing the sand out and loosening the paving, which is not at all what you want.

there is a product called dansand a few years back which claimed to have this. Doing it your self won't work.
