Some times the engine speed on my fiesta will not slow down when I take my foot off the gas, even when the car comes to standstill. I was told by some one that it could be a dirty or sticking sensor ,if so where and what is it. Any ideas please?
PS the rev counter shows about 2500 RPM.

it'll be the idle control valve.
They get gunked up with oil and stick. Can be cleaned out though (usually) so no biggy.

It wont be shown in the handbook.
From memory (long long time since ive done one!) you're looking for a black plastic cylinder shaped thing, with a couple of bolts holding it to the engine. There should be 1 or 2 plastic / rubber air pipes going to it which possibly go to the throttle body (this is also worth cleaning out with some carburettor cleaner while you're at it) and also the oil breather pipe.

Im sure someone will be along later with a photo!
