These steps are on an Edwardian house. I understand it used to be treated with red Cardinal polish and was later treated with red tile paint. They may originally have been left as plain scrubbed stone.

I don't know it it is concrete or stone, it doesn't look site-cast and the doorsteps at the back of the house are smooth slightly buff stone.

What do people treat them with these days, that lasts?

They face North and get wet with rain.
