Hi guys,
A month or two ago i had a broken shower trap and happy to say that i was able to replace/fix with help from users on this forum, so thanks again for that!
However, ive kept the pastic kick plate type thing off from the front of the shower tray in an effort to monitor my “plumbing” just to make sure it was sealed etc. It all looks good, but i keep getting this annoying dampness around about that 90 deg elbow joint, first thoughts were that it must be lose, but (as awkward as it was to do given the installation) I tried to see if needed hand tighten; but it seems tight already. It never “puddles” just leaves a damp clammy patch on the floor panel, and that bit of would supporting the tray, just behind the pipe. I have even felt the slight dampness at the bottom of the insulation wool in the cavity wall!!
I rapped a bit of toilet roll around the elbow last night, http://media.diynot.com/138000_137985_21136_47689390_thumb.jpgand this morning, it was fairly saturated. I don’t “think” the joint has failed, but after feeling the whole pipe today, it all feels fairly moist, with condensation?? Im wondering if the hot water pipe isn’t helping the situation, i.e. the hot air from the hot water pipe is condensing on the cold water pipe?
Some pics attached. I have marked in red lassos where the damp patches are.
Any help/advice/tips would be appreciated. Do you think raising the cold wter pipe of floor (perhaps with a couple of plastic wedges) would stop the dampness on the floor. I.e. no direct contact with the floor. I’m really worried that long-term I will get rot issues. Its just such an awkward area to work in too.
